La Fondation Anna Lindh et l’Institut européen de la Méditerranée convoquent la troisième édition du concours international de contes et nouvelles « Une mer de mots », qui s’adresse aux jeunes des 43 pays de l’espace euroméditerranéen.

Le concours invite à écrire des contes et nouvelles qui évoquent le progrès personnel et social et l’effort de construire des sociétés fondées sur la justice, l’égalité et l’inclusion, pour que s’y expriment les différentes sensibilités et réalités vécues par les jeunes de la région euroméditerranéenne.

Conditions requises

Le concours s’adresse aux jeunes ressortissants des 43 pays de l’espace euroméditerranéen âgés de 30 ans maximum.

Format des récits

Les récits ne dépasseront pas la longueur de 2 500 mots ; ils seront rédigés dans l’une des langues officielles des pays participants. Les contes et nouvelles seront des œuvres originales et inédites dans leur totalité qui aborderont des thèmes liés au dialogue interculturel, notamment de nature politique, socioculturelle, économique et environnementale.

Délai et lieu de remise des récits

Tous les récits seront envoyés à l’adresse électronique suivante : concurso@iemed.org

Les auteurs joindront leurs coordonnées personnelles (nom et prénom, date de naissance, nationalité, adresse postale, courrier électronique et téléphone).

Les récits pourront être envoyés par courrier électronique jusqu’au à le 15 septembre 2010, à minuit, dernier délai.

La participation au concours implique la cession à l’IEMed et à la Fondation Anna Lindh des droits d’auteur sur l’œuvre candidate. La Fondation Anna Lindh et l’IEMed se réservent le droit de publier et d’utiliser les œuvres reçues pour des activités futures.

Call for papers

The Arab Education Forum – Safar fund and the Fonds Roberto Cimetta are preparing for a Symposium as part of their joint Istikshaf project exploring mobility around the Mediterranean, partially funded by the Anna Lindh Foundation. . This Symposium will be held in Alexandria – Egypt in cooperation with the International Association for Creation and Training (I-act), in the context of the Dialog Program-Creative Forum for Independent Theatre Groups (Europe-Mediterranean) which will be held from the 1st to the 10th of February 2011. The organizers are seeking papers addressing the themes of the Symposium. Deadline for submission is September 15th, 2010.

Background on the Symposium:
There is an evident lack or shortage of literature on mobility as a tool for learning, dialogue, and artistic exchange and as a new-old paradigm around the Mediterranean basin. The symposium aims to expand on and develop a renewed understanding of contemporary mobility by bringing together people able to think mobility in its widest sense. The symposium will focus the discussion on key areas such as concrete needs in relation to artistic mobility and mobility for long life learning around the Mediterranean

If you have conducted research or have an experience related to the topic of the Symposium, we encourage you to submit an abstract of the paper you wish to present at this Symposium.
We welcome papers on the many and varied forms of mobility addressing one or more of the following themes:
Mobility for learning or mobility as a learning tool?
Challenges to mobility.
The culture of mobility.
Mainstreaming/sustaining mobility as a culture and practice.
Different models/paradigms of Mobility: mobility vs. tourism? Mobility vs. migration?
Experiences in mobility around the Mediterranean.
Mobility as a tool for re-inforcing local cultural development
Abstracts will be accepted in Arabic, English and French, word count should be 300 words or less. A committee from the Istikshaf project partners will review all abstracts. Celebrating Through Times of Crisis: Prospects and Potentials for Tourism, Festivals and Cultural Events
Copenhagen, Denmark, 11-12 September 2010

Building on the established collaboration between the Centre for Tourism and Cultural Change (CTCC) and the International Festivals and Events Association (IFEA), this conference will bring together international academic researchers in the field of tourism and festival studies with policy makers and practitioners in the festivals and cultural events sector. The CTCC and IFEA are delighted to be working in partnership with the Centre for Tourism and Culture Management, Copenhagen Business School in the organisation and hosting of this event which coincides with IFEA's annual conference.

The conference will discuss the complex implications of the global economic downturn for the relationships between tourism, festivals and cultural events. We particularly welcome paper proposals that consider questions of how the balance between social, artistic and commercial aspects of festivals can be sustained during these challenging times and how festivals and cultural events and their attractiveness to tourists may contribute to addressing economic, social and environmental crises at local, regional, national and international levels. The conference will take place in Copenhagen, Denmark and will form the 8th edition of the 'Journeys of Expression' conferences organised by the CTCC with partners since 2002.

Artoteque.com is pleased to invite artists to WORK ON DISPLAY the 2nd Annual Juried Contemporary Art Competition /Exhibition 12 months on display that takes place online at www.artoteque.com

Guidelines 
All entries go through a selection process. The competition is judged solely by visuals submitted on-line as Jpeg [.JPG] attachment. Numbers of entries: 6 - 12 works / image files submitted on-line to: submit@artoteque.com.
We send out a monthly digital files of artists in our displays to very important customers, and collectors interested in buying art. If art buyers are interested in purchasing any artwork featured on Artoteque.com they need to contact the gallery via e-mail. All financial transactions are strictly between the customer and the artist.

 The Screening 
The screening is free and is conducted by review on 6 - 12 Jpeg [.JPG] of 72 dpi up to 700 pixels image files versions of the submitted works inline or attachment along the works details -title, year, medium, size, price.
     Submitters whose entries pass the screening are included in competition and are requested the participation fee payment.
     Entries without a fully completed entry form will not be accepted.  If you are not able to fell the PDF application form you can submit a letter that includes: - name - country - number of the works submitted - he method of entry fee payment. 

Entry Fee
Submitters whose pass the screening will be requested the competition fee.
There is a USDollars 80 / Euros 50 entry fee for 6 works. and USDollars 15 / Euros 10 for each additional work. Payment by Direct Transfer on account, by Money Order, by PayPal, by Western Union.

L’appel s’adresse à des artistes de différentes disciplines comme : l’art dramatique, la danse, les arts visuels (vidéo, cinéma, photographie), littérature, musique et la recherche de son et de nouveaux médias. Les artistes
peuvent s’inscrire seuls ou en groupe. Les projets peuvent être créés pour l’occasion ou faire l’objet d'un travail en cours.

AUTOCHTONE ET d’AILLEURS Résidence de Création d’Artistes, est organisée par le CENTRO RURAL D’ARTE dans le cadre de ses activités de caractère éventuel et nomade. La résidence aura lieu dans le Parc National Los Alerces (Patagonie, Argentine) avec comme intention de travailler dans un endroit public et protégé à partir d'un thème particulier.

Map: mobilité artistique

Depuis 9 ans le programme map, initié par les Pépinières européennes pour jeunes artistes, offre un large éventail de concepts de mobilité artistique portés par plusieurs lieux de création partenaires en Europe et au Québec.

Son succès se confirmant année après année, nous le prolongeons sur la période 2010-2011.

Cette année encore, les structures partenaires proposent de nouvelles opportunités de résidences pour permettre à de jeunes artistes de construire des projets pluriels et de rencontrer de nouveaux publics.

En raison de la mise en oeuvre prochaine du nouveau site e.mobility, via lequel nous diffuserons les prochains appels, et en tenant compte des calendriers de nos partenaires, nous lançons aujourd’hui un premier appel à candidatures pour les résidences prévues en 2010. Le deuxième appel pour les résidences de 2011, devrait être lancé à l’automne sur e.mobility.

Cet appel à candidatures sera clôturé le 16 août 2010 à minuit (heure de Bruxelles).

Ce programme s’adresse à de jeunes artistes de tous domaines d’expression âgés de 18 à 35 ans, résidant dans un des pays partenaires :

Festivals in Transition (FIT) announces an open call for participants

FESTIVAL LAB
Theory and practice for the next generation of European Festival Directors and Producers - An initiative of 8 festivals in 8 countries.
This is a call for the new superheroes for the performing arts world, the next revolutionary generation.
FESTIVAL LAB is a fantastic opportunity for the next generation of festival directors and producers from across Europe to explore and showcase their ideas at pioneering festivals whilst receiving inspirational and hands on support from experienced practitioners.
With its unique mix of academy, workshops, residency and a contemporary artistic programme, FESTIVAL LAB creates a European platform for the brave and the bold to experiment, reflect and learn. Each aspect is designed, developed and realised by the FIT Festival Directors as part of the programme of the hosting festivals.
FESTIVAL LAB is a project in three steps for one year.
o Following a European-wide call, 20 participants will be chosen to take part in the project.
- All selected participants will attend the five day academy combining theoretical and practical work.
- The participants will attend a minimum of five three day workshops at the eight
participating FIT festivals.
- Following the academy, on the basis of their programme proposals, five selectedparticipants will be offered a residency (up to 6 months) at one of the five coordinating FIT Festivals, where they will further develop and realise their project. This project will then be presented as part of the hosting international festival.
For the Academy and Workshops international travel and accommodation of the 20 selected participants will be covered, but not daily living costs. For the Residencies international travel, accommodation and basic living costs will be covered.
Alongside providing an opportunity for future festival directors and producers, FESTIVAL LAB's pioneering initiative aims to promote and explore fresh and contemporary programming ideas to European audiences and sector professionals. It will facilitate the sharing of knowledge in the field of festival management and create an informal network, as well as enabling debate and transformation around supporting and developing new talent.FESTIVAL LAB is a wonderful opportunity for the next generation of festival directors and producers from across Europe to explore and showcase their ideas at pioneering festivals whilst receiving inspirational and hands on support from experienced practitioners. 11th Annual La MaMa International Symposium for Directors to be held July 17 – August 7, 2010 and The Playwright Retreat to be held July 5 – 15, 2010 at La MaMa Umbria in Spoleto, Italy.

Jean Guy Lecat, from the Peter Brook Company in Paris joins Ong Keng Sen from Singapore, Ivica Buljan from Croatia, Split Britches (Peggy Shaw and Lois Weaver), hip-hop theatre artist Marc Bamuthi Joseph and media collaborators Andrea Paciotto and Jan Klug from Italy and The Netherlands, respectively for this summer’s Symposium (plus other artists to be announced.)
            In addition to workshops with these artists, the Symposium experience includes accommodation in a 500-year old former convent, freshly prepared traditional Umbrian meals, visits to cultural attractions in Umbria, performances at summer festivals, sagras (community fairs), opportunities to share your work with colleagues and develop collaborations.
            You may attend for a 2-week session, July 17 – July 31, or a 3-week session, July 17 – August 7.
            Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Lynn Nottage will facilitate the 4th Annual La MaMa International Playwright Retreat in Spoleto, Italy this summer. During the 10-day retreat to be held July 5-15, Ms. Nottage will lead writers through a process designed to help them explore and develop new projects and those already in progress. La MaMa Umbria offers an inspirational hillside setting for playwrights to write far from the distractions of normal life.
            The Retreat experience includes accommodation in a 500-year old former convent, freshly prepared traditional Umbrian meals, visits to cultural attractions in Umbria, performances at summer festivals, sagras (community fairs), opportunities to share your work with colleagues and develop collaborations.

Colori ad Arte

Contrada Torino ONLUS Foundation has integrated a multi-year project aimed at realizing Public Arts works in the Turin area aimed at fostering the interaction between arts, architecture and environment.

The Colori ad Arte project proposes to experiment new procedures involving Arts and image of the city. On one hand, the Foundation works with and for the artists by identifying the most appropriate topics and places for their intervention. On the other hand the artists and the whole community work for the city by analyzing all the possible forms of integration between artistic expression, conditions and meanings of the context. To this end, Contrada Torino ONLUS, in the year of “Torino European Capital of Youth”, under the auspices of GAI (Association for the Circuit of Young Italian Artists), BJCEM (Biennal Exhibition of Young European and Mediterranean Artists) and the contribution of the City of Turin (Structural Funds and Economic Development Division and Youth Policies Division) has published the first international tender for young (under 35) artists for the recovery of three blind walls with different environmental features in the city of Turin. Such blind (and silent) walls have a remarkable dimensional impact and are now available thanks to Private owners and to a work of censing and coordination carried out by the Foundation in order to encourage the realization of project aimed at giving such spots back their dignity, enhancing life quality and reinvent a new identity, in harmony with their embedded values. The tender is part of the Urban Art Festival program, organized by the City of Torino – Youth policies Division in collaboration with and backed by the Youth Department. On the occasion of “Torino 2010 European Capital of Youth”, the event promote Mural Arts with interventions on big surfaces.

Labor Residence

LABOR announces a call for artists and curators for the use of the space of LABOR as a studio or an open space for a two- or four-week time in July and August 2010. Successful applicants can use the space of LABOR for realizing projects related to visual culture. The aim of the residency is to provide a possibility for artists and curators for individual (or collective) work, introduction, and to get in contact with the Hungarian contemporary art scene. During the residency participants can use the spatial and technical facilities of LABOR (internet access, laptop); the library and the exhibition spaces.

The residency project covers the use of the art space, upon request we can help in finding accommodation, seeking and building professional relationships.

Application should contain:

- detailed professional CV
- motivation letter and working plan (max. 2 pages), where the applicant states whether s/he would like to use the space for two or four weeks

Roberto Cimetta Fund for artistic mobility in the Mediterranean.
The Roberto Cimetta Fund is an international association promoting artistic exchange and the mobility of professionals in the field of contemporary performing arts and visual arts within the Mediterranean area, encouraging travel that allows culture professionals to find the opportunities, partners, and means to realize personal or collective projects, thus facilitating networking, exchanges of experience, and cultural and artistic cooperation.
With the support of a number of partners, the Roberto Cimetta Fund has set up a program for awarding individual travel grants. These cover travel and visa costs for trips such as attending professional cultural network meetings, workshops, artist’s residences, symposiums, etc. The program is intended to operate simply, flexibly, and quickly. Selections are organized regularly.
The travel grant program is addressed to all professionals, artists, or cultural operators in all fields of contemporary arts in the Mediterranean (the countries on the north shore from Portugal to Turkey, and on the south side from the Near East to the Maghreb). European professionals may apply but only if their project has a strong Mediterranean connection. The Roberto Cimetta Fund travel grants are individual; they are granted to specific individuals and not to organizations.
The next selection will take place at the end of June.

Piemonte Share announces the new edition of the Share Prize, an international prize for realized digital art projects.
Competition entry since 23th of april till the 6th of june 2010 at www.toshare.it.

The prize that aims to discover, promote and sustain digital arts, is open to all the italian and foreign artists.
The contest is dedicated to artists that use digital technology as a language of creative expression, in all shapes and formats and in combination with analogical technologies and/or any other material.

A Jury will award a prize of Euro 2,500 to the work (published or not) that best represents experimentation of arts and new technologies.

“From cultural Diplomacy to Cultural Co-operation”

This debate will take place on Wednesday 19 May from 10h00 to 12h30 in Brussels (venue to be confirmed soon).
This new ENCATC policy debate will take a close look to the paradigm shift in EU Member States’ cultural relations with third countries moving away from traditional cultural diplomacy
approaches to more strategically focussed international cultural co-operation and to policies less encumbered by foreign policy agendas.
The keynote speech will be delivered by ROB FICHER, Director of International Intelligence on Culture, Honorary Research Fellow, City University, London (where he lectured from 1984-2007
and a Visiting Lecturer at Goldsmiths College, University of London. Rod will draw attention to those EU countries where a paradigm shift had taken place (e.g. Austria, Germany and Slovenia),
those which appeared to have both cultural diplomacy and more genuine cultural co-operation policies (e.g. Finland, Netherlands and the UK), and those where policy shifts were being actively
discussed (e.g. France) or were aspirational (e.g. Romania). The director of International Intelligence on Culture will also identify trends in cultural diplomacy and international cultural cooperation.
These included: a greater willingness on the part of national cultural institutes (NCIs) to co-operate and the emergence of EUNIC; a shift from bilateral to multilateral cultural agreements
by some countries, and from cultural diplomacy to cultural relations and mutuality; and the interest of EU Member States to co-operate with accession/pre-accession states, which often
tended to wane once they had joined. Mention will be made of the cultural relations of some countries which have been designated to ‘mend fences’ and restore trust for obvious political
reasons.
In addition there will be reference to the growth of the importance of the creative industries which has both accelerated interest by governments in the export of their culture and provided them with opportunities to ‘brand’ themselves in the process – trade interests are
interestingly linked to foreign ones.

The presentation of the first results of the research will be followed by a debate with the participants animated by Gerald LIDSTONE, Director of the Institute of Creative and Cultural
Entrepreneurship at Goldsmiths University of London. For the British Council and other agencies he has also taught Arts Management training courses including Arts Marketing, Arts Education,
Fundraising, Copyright and Strategic Planning in over 25 countries.

Court-métrage, animation, interview, spot : toutes les formes d'expression sur support vidéo sont acceptées. Les vidéos doivent être montées, avoir une bande-son musicale, durer trois minutes maximum et être accessibles sur youtube.

Les internautes pourront voter pour leur vidéo préférée jusqu'au 31 juin. Les lauréats recevront un prix en euros.

Open Design Italia est le seul format dédié au design ayant un double cœur géographique: en fait, l'événement aura place autour des deux centres de Modena et Bologna. L' Ufficio Progetto Giovani - Politiche Giovanili del Comune di Padova organise, dans le cadre du concours international DIGITALIA - Projet de reconnaissance sur l'Art Digital italien, un atelier sur l'Art Digital conduit par M Paolo Rosa, membre du Collettivo Studio Azzurro.

L'atelier aura la thème “L'œuvre vue de la part du spectateur – L'art entre interactivité et participation”, et aura lieu Samedi 5 May 2010, de 10h au 13h et de 14.30h au 18h dans l'ex Chiesa delle Zitelle, Via Giustiniani à Padova
Paolo Rosa, après différentes expériences dans le cinéma expérimental et les arts visuels, depuis 1994 s'est intéressé à l'interactivité et au multimédia appliqués au domaines de l'art et du spectacle, projetant et dirigeant nombreux projets et œuvres. Il dirige aussi le Département de Planification et Arts Appliqués dans l'Académie de Beaux Arts de Brera, à Milan.
L'atelier est ouvert à un maximum de 12 personnes: il est nécessaire donc d'indiquer d'avance l'intention à participer, d'ici le 5 Mai 2010 à 13h.
À cause de l' haut numéro de demandes reçues, probablement une sélection sera effectuée par le Jury du concours Digitalia. Une bonne connaissance des moyens informatiques, le rapport entre sa propre recherche et le thème de l'atelier et la disponibilité à l'utilisation d'un ordinateur portable pendant la leçon seront les critères pour la sélection.
Le cout de participation à l'atelier est de 50,00 euros.

This year White Night will gave to the citizens exactly what they want – Art for everyone and everywhere. Night to remember!

This year White Night will offer art that will revival all parts of the city. Art out of the standard institutional spaces, art that will allow authentic expression in new open and closed spaces and not only in the museum, gallery, theater, hall…
We want to present art that will meet also the other spaces and will achieve a dialog with them.

Le congrès veut lancer la défie de la renaissance économique du Sud à travers la culture et les entreprises du secteur, pour créer un terrain fertile capable de favoriser l’innovation, le développement économique et donner de l’essor à la capacité d’attraction des territoires.

Video Art Festival Miden invites all video artists and video creators to participate in this year’s events, which will take place, like the past five years, in public spaces at the Historic Centre of the city of Kalamata, Greece, in July 2010.

The research project “Methods”investigates the methodologies applied in creative processes for the social responsible transformation. A research that for several years has involved personalities of the artistic world who are parting from specific social problematic issues and through a network of communities, organizations, public and private institutions have come to realize new modalities of exchange, dialogue and co-creation.  At its fifth edition, the project is opening to a new and wider phase: the extension of research about methods of disciplines that go beyond the artistic context.

La European Cultural Foundation, le Riksbankens Jubileumsfond et le European Network of Cultural Administration Training Centres ont officiellement lancé l'appel à candidature pour le Cultural Policy Research Award 2010.

Conçu pour encourager la recherche sur la politique culturelle appliquée et académique et pour explorer les thèmes en jeu dans l'Europe contemporaine, le Cultural Policy Research Award a le but de contribuer à la construction de nouvelles compétences entre jeunes spécialistes dans la recherche de politiques culturelles comparées.

Les candidatures devront être soumises d'ici le 24 Mai 2010 à travers de la fiche de candidature en ligne disponible sur le site internet CPRA Award. Renseignements détaillés sur la procédure de demande et plus d'indications sont disponibles sur le site internet de l' ENCATC.

Malgré le potentiel reconnu des filières culturelles pour le développement socio-économique et la réduction de la pauvreté, celles-ci sont marginalisées dans les politiques et programmes de développement. Cet atelier a l'intention de présenter et discuter les résultats d'un étude pan-Européen sur la schématisation et l'évaluation de plate-formes (sites web) dans le domaine culturel qui ont le but de stimuler le débat et l'échange international de sujets concernant la culture Européenne
La prévision de ce nouveau étude est de « schématiser et analyser les sites web qui existent en Europe qui sont utilisés comme moyens d'échange d'information et de débat sur la culture, l'expression artistique comme un espace pour l'échange des opinions sur le projet européen, afin de proposer des recommandations sur comment améliorer l'utilisation d'internet comme un moyen d'échange d'information et de débat à niveau Européen sur des questions interdisciplinaires dans le domaine de la culture et de l'expression artistique ».
Cela est fondé sur ce qui a été commencé dans le programme pour la culture, avec lequel la Commission a l'intention de « poursuivre un dialogue structuré avec la culture.
Artistes, créateurs et spécialistes sont invités à présenter propositions de recherche et de production pour devenir chercheurs dans l'Académie Jan van Eyck. Les candidats peuvent faire une demande avec un sujet propre ou pour un projet formulé avec l'institut même. Artists, designers and theoreticians are invited to submit research and production proposals to become a researcher at the Jan van Eyck Academie. Candidates can either apply with a topic of their own or for a project formulated by the institute itself. In order to realise these projects, the Jan van Eyck offers the necessary made-to-measure artistic, technical and auxiliary preconditions.

The Jan van Eyck Academie is an institute for research and production in the fields of fine art, design and theory. Every year, 48 international researchers realise their individual or collective projects in the artistic and critical environment that is the Jan van Eyck. In doing so, they are advised by a team of artists, designers and theoreticians who have won their spurs globally. The researchers can also avail themselves of facilities that support their projects from first concept to public presentation. All in all, the Jan van Eyck offers artists, designers and theoreticians time and space to do research and realise productions, either about topics of their own choosing or as part of a project formulated by the institute itself.

Multi-Disciplinary Research
Artists, designers and theoreticians at the Jan van Eyck Academie work alongside each other and establish cross-disciplinary exchange. The academy is not led by predetermined leitmotivs. Artists, designers and theoreticians can submit independently formulated proposals for research and/or production in the departments of Fine Art, Design and Theory. They can also participate in research projects formulated by the departments (please see http://www.janvaneyck.nl).
The research projects, miscellaneous in nature, make the Jan van Eyck a multi-disciplinary institute. This also shows in the programme of the institute. Researchers, departments and the institute organise various weekly activities, to which special speakers are invited: lectures, seminars, workshops, screenings, exhibitions, discussions, … The Jan van Eyck community and external interested parties are welcome to attend this programme. The result is a dynamic and critical exchange between the different agents from within and outside of the Jan van Eyck.

Facilities
Researchers are advised by a team of artists, designers and theoreticians who have won their spurs globally. They receive their own studio and a stipend. Furthermore, researchers can make use of all kinds of facilities which support their projects, from first concept to public presentation, including the library, the documentation centre and various workshops: materials (wood and other materials); time-based productions; analogue and digital (online and offline) publishing (including photography and silkscreen). They can also get assistance with their print work, the editing and distribution of publications and the publicity of events.

Applications
Candidates applying for Fine Art, Design or Theory are asked to propose an individual research project. They can also indicate their interest in participating in one of the projects that are offered by the department of their choice or one of the other departments.
The academic year runs from 1 January to 31 December. Research candidates can apply for a one-year or two-year research period starting annually on 1 January. It is also possible to apply to do research for a different period and with a different starting date.

Les jeunes artistes qui travaillent en tant que professionnels dans le domaine du spectacle vivant contemporain dans les pays arabes, ou qui sont engagés dans le champ artistique dans la région.

Les 23èmes Instants Vidéo nomades sont une manifestation dédiée aux arts électroniques et multimédia.
Chaque année, nous présentons une programmation internationale d’œuvres d’art vidéo, de documentaires de création, d’installations vidéo, de CD ROM d’artistes, de performances….

Il y aura des poètes contemporains. Dans le festival sont prevu aussi des conférences et des rencontres publiques.
Nous regarderons votre travail avec attention, étant conscient que la poésie électronique est fragile, délicate, un frémissement.

UN-HABITAT: World Urban Youth Assembly International Essay Competition

The world urban population has grown at very high rates over the past two decades. According to the UN-HABITAT State of the World Cities Report 2008/2009, it is estimated that by the middle of the 21st century, half of the world’s population will be living in urban areas.
While the urban population in developed countries will remain unchanged in the next two decades, the urban populations in the developing world will more than double. The majority of city inhabitants in the developing world are overwhelmingly young people, and are the most affected by issues of poverty, exclusion, and unemployment, access to housing, water and sanitation.
The theme for this year’s UN-HABITAT World Urban Forum which is being held in Rio de Janeiro from 22 to 26 March, “The right to the City– bridging the urban divide” seeks to engage practitioners and policy makers to rethink the urban utopia and identifying the best practices and actions in every city, creating a better world where everyone can live with dignity, respect and citizenship.
Young people living in urban areas can play a significant role in addressing the challenges facing decision and policy makers planning for and managing cities. Young people from around the world participating in the World Urban Youth Assembly on 19 and 20 March will have an opportunity to deliberate and make recommendations to better inform the urban agenda.

2nd Roma Pavilion - Call the Witness

OPEN CALL FOR SUBMISSION/COLLABORATION

The curatorial team of The 2nd Roma Pavilion – Call the Witness announces its open call for artists, researchers and media archive.

This project, which will be presented in Venice in 2011, is conceptualised and curated by the interdisciplinary collaborative curatorial team: Suzana Milevska, Vladan Jeremic, Rena Raedle and Enisa Eminovska.

The 2nd Roma Pavilion - Call the Witness is an interdisciplinary collaboration that aims at fostering, producing and presenting contemporary and new media art by Roma artists from different regions and cultures. At the core of the project lies the concept of the contemporary artist as an instantaneous witness of his/her time who is not a passive viewer but rather acts as an active participant in solidarity with the events and people that provoked his/her art work. Such a phenomenon, wherein art becomes a potential agent of social makeover, acquires a completely new prospect in this period of digitalisation and globalisation, and may greatly affect Roma communities.

The project 2nd Roma Pavilion - Call the Witness is organised by the Roma Media Base – A Skopje based organisation for archiving, producing and presenting contemporary and new media art by Roma artists and communities, and the Biro for Culture and Communication from Belgrade. The project is supported by the Open Society Institute and other organisations and sponsors.

The First Roma Pavilion took place in 2007 as a collateral exhibition at the 52nd Venice Biennale and was initiated by the Open Society Institute.

Le Forum Anna Lindh est un rassemblement majeur de la société civile pour la promotion des actions interculturelles à travers la région méditerranéenne, organisée par la Fondation Anna Lindh en partenariat avec l'Institut Européen de la Méditerranée, chef de file du réseaux espagnol.

Le Forum, qui se tiendra à Barcelone du 4 au 7 mars 2010, entend donner un nouvel élan à la coopération entre les organisations de la société civile qui consacrent leurs efforts au dialogue interculturel au sein de l’Union pour la Méditerranée. Le Forum vise également à enrichir les activités des quarante-trois réseaux nationaux de la Fondation Anna Lindh.

Le rassemblement d’environ 500 représentants d’organisations de la société civile ainsi que d’intervenants renommés dans les domaines politique, culturel et économique et venant de toute l’Union pour la Méditerranée pourra être en outre une source d’inspiration pour le développement de la coopération régionale et servira d’outil pour influencer la mise en place de politiques consacrées au dialogue interculturel.

Le programme du Forum s’articule autour de deux éléments clés :‘l’Agora’, en présence de nombreux experts, alternera les débats en séance plénière et les ateliers pour traiter des réalisations et des défis rencontrés au niveau de la coopération sociale et culturelle dans le cadre régional, et la ‘Médina’, qui rassemblera des membres des Réseaux Anna Lindh ainsi que des partenaires régionaux afin de partager des idées et de mettre en place des nouveaux partenariats et initiatives.

Le Forum Anna Lindh, dont le contenu a été développé à travers une série de réunions préparatoires auxquelles ont participé de nombreuses organisations de la société civile de la région travaillant sur le terrain, permettra la mise en place d’une plateforme permanente thématique qui aidera la Fondation Anna Lindh et ses Réseaux Nationaux dans le choix des orientations pour leurs futures activités.

“Balkans beyond Borders” is an online short film competition on the subject of regional cooperation in the Balkans wider region. The call for submissions was opened on the 7th of December 2009. The BBB Competition is part of the "Southeast Europe and the EU - Leadership Development Programme", a joint project from the European Fund for the Balkans, the TRANSFUSE Association and the College of Europe. The programme is made possible through support from the European Fund for the Balkans.

Online Short Film Competition – Balkans beyond Borders
After further consideration and feed-back from prospective participants, the deadline for receiving submissions has been extended to the 1st of March 2010, in order to allow those who wish to send their films to dedicate more time to the production of their films, hence ensuring a better quality of submissions.

Furthermore, the Organisation Committee has decided to extent eligibility to all young people under 30 years old, regardless of their nationality, as long as their film relates to the subject of regional cooperation in the Balkans.

The composition of the international evaluation committee has also been finalized Mr. Konstantinos Rigos, a highly appreciated Greek director, has accepted to preside the committee.

The winner of the competition will be awarded 400 Euros and will be invited to the final event in Belgrade, on the 13th of March 2010, when the 10 best films will be projected in front of a larger audience. The winning film will also participate in the Naoussa International Film Festival and will be promoted in the Balkan wider region during the follow-up activities of the project.

The main objective of the project is to invite young people to create short films through which they reflect on their region’s current and future situation. The aim is to get a better grasp of how young people understand regional cooperation, but also to deepen young people’s knowledge on issues relating to neighbouring countries, as well as raise awareness about the importance of cooperation for the future development of the countries in the region.

The project addresses young people, up to 30 years old, interested in creatively expressing their ideas on regional cooperation in Southeast Europe through film making.

The films can be documentaries or fiction, animations, recorded performances. They must address the subject of the call and have no more than 10 minutes length. The official language of the competition is English.

Tulipamwe Visual Artists Residency

The Tulipamwe Arts Trust is a community empowerment project organized under the auspices of the Visual & Performing Arts Department at the UNIVERSITY OF NAMIBIA.
Professional, self-reliant, dynamic artists who work in any traditional or new visual arts media are invited to apply for the Tulipamwe Residency in Namibia from 12 April – 12 May 2010.
Tulipamwe’s residency program offers the artist-in-residence an opportunity to live and work in Windhoek, capital of Namibia for a period of 4 weeks, giving the visiting artist the opportunity to integrate in the local artistic community and to respond to the local situation in his/her work. Tulipamwe endeavors to facilitate cultural exchange and creative dialogue in support of the international Triangle artists’ network, to which it is affiliated. Therefore the artist is welcome (but not obliged) to collaborate with Namibian artists during the residency. Artists are also encouraged to respond to their individual experience of the Namibian cultural environment in their work.
Designed as an opportunity to grow creatively and to expand cultural horizons, the residency does not offer any kind of financial remuneration. However, Tulipamwe will endeavor to cover self-catering accommodation and basic materials, plus a daily allowance for meals and local transport. Tulipamwe will also, depending on the route of travel, attempt to cover international travel costs. However, artists who are able to attract financial assistance for their travel to/from Namibia (or part of it) will enjoy priority. (Applications can be submitted to ArtMovesAfrica who may assist with traveling costs of African artists).

The artist-in-residence will be invited to offer a visual presentation and/or practical demonstration of his/her work to Namibian artists, students and the general public, thereby contributing to general education. Digital or analog equipment will be available for this presentation. Towards the end of the residency, the artist-in-residence will be invited to hold an open studio day, while the residency will culminate in an exhibition in a Windhoek gallery.

La 3eme édition de l'International Video VIDEOHOLICA ART Festival 2010 aura lieu dans la période 10 au 17 août 2010 à Varna, dans le cadre de la Biennale Internationale des Arts Visuels AOUT EN ART.

VIDEOHOLICA 2010 présentera une série de projections vidéo d'art et d'expositions et feront des présentations plus connues dans les forums internationaux d'art vidéo et honorés des artistes vidéo en parallèle avec les discussions sur des sujets d'art vidéo.

La 3e édition du festival passera sous la devise: garder l'illusion vivente.
Dans le processus de rigidification sphères de plus en plus économique, le multimédia, les réalités hyper et de la culture cybernétique, «le réseau des simulacres» est devenue phénomène de plus en plus vivre. Hautes technologies, information, internet, en cliquant, le téléchargement, l'établissement des commandes, des souvenirs de montage, découpage rêves! L'art replace la question: "Allons-nous utiliser tout cela, ou allons-nous nous transformer en bien ça? La «réalité hyper", ainsi créée, dicte le comportement de la personnalité, la perception et la conscience, qui entraînent la perte de la subjectivité. La devise des appels festival de cette année à la préservation de son identité / authenticité dans le processus de modification de masse et l'unification de l'individu. Le terme «illusion» est l'objet de nombreuses études culturelles, sociologiques, religieuses, philosophiques et psychologiques de l'époque du postmodernisme, et continue d'être une question brûlante, à la fois avec des connotations positives et négatives. Dans ce sens, la conservation et la préservation de l'irréel est une négation du monde matériel et une protestation contre l'omnipotence de l'information, socio-culturel et politico-économique des spéculations.

Les décisions concernant la sélection des vidéos seront faites par les 5 membres du jury. Tous les requérants, qui observent les règles et la date limite, vous bénéficiez de l'entrée au jury, qui aura lieu en Juillet 2010. Les résultats définitifs seront annoncés et envoyé aux candidats par e-mail d'ici la fin Juillet 2010. Le jury fera une sélection représentative de 20 films. Il n'ya pas de frais de soumission.

Le Groupe el Tiqa a vu le jour en hiver 2002, lorsque les réflexions des divers artistes concordé sur l'idée "l'art pour l'art". Progressant dans cette démarche nous essayons de fixer notre attention sur l'art moderne et contemporain. Notre but consiste à émettre une nuance particulière afin de créer un mouvement d'art moderne et contemporain palestinien. Par la diversité de nos idées et techniques, notre perception de l'art est multiculturelle.

El Tiqa, en tant qu'artistes palestiniens, aux ressources limitées, avons réussi à composer un corps afin de nous entraider et faire évoluer cette idée par nos propres moyens, malgré les conditions très difficiles dans lesquelles nous vivons. Nous nous sommes défini comme objectif de ne pas laisser de telles conditions nous décourager à réaliser notre ambition. Notre attachement à cette idée est très vif. Par nos activités artistiques nous amenons notre société à aimer la culture. Notre engagement: continuer à lutter contre les conditions très dures et les obstacles, en utilisant les plus belles couleurs et le langage le plus simple.

Art prize Laguna 2010

Sont ouvertes les applications (complètement libres) pour les nouvelles opportunités offertes par le prix Arte Laguna à tous les artistes: un choix de performances qui seront exécutés le 6 mars 2010 pendant le grand événement d'ouverture de l'exposition collective des finalistes du 4ème prix d'Arte Laguna. Les plus de 3.000 mètres carrés dans l'Arsenale de Venise montreront une vue d'ensemble d'art contemporain exprimée par la peinture la plus significative, la sculpture et les œuvres d'art photographiques qui participeront au prix. Le prix fera participer plus de 5.500 artistes de plus de 90 pays, mais il inclura également les arts performatives avec des exécutions considérées intéressantes et significatives, la date-limite pour ce prix spécial est le 15 février.

L'événement d'ouverture pour la 4ème exposition du prix Arte Laguna confirme non seulement la participation de plusieurs d'artistes, conservateurs, critiques et opérateurs dans la communication et dans le monde de l’art en général, italiens et européens, mais elle représentera également une étape de haute visibilité, dans un endroit étonnant qui donnera la possibilité de exécuter dans la meilleur façon possible n’importe quelle performance.

Film Festival Carbunari 2010

La septième édition du Festival du Film Expérimentale Internationale Carbunari 2010 est dédiée au soutien et à la promotion des films expérimentales. L’organisation du Festival considère la production du film expérimentale comme une des formes les plus intéressantes de production artistique.

La septième édition est spécifique car il aura une intégration entre les films de cette année avec le Festival "French-English Poetry" organisée par le magazine LA TRADUCTIERE in Paris en Juin 2010.

Cette année le sujet du « French-English Poetry Festival » est “DU POETIQUE a la POESIE”. Les video-aristes sont invités à illustrer ces 36 poésies qui ont été présentées au festival au moyen de films expérimentaux. Toutes les poésies seront reproduites dans une édition français-anglais bilingue et les films constitueront la troisième traduction.
